IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker released new smartphone shipment figures today as Samsung leads the smartphone market for the quarter ended on June 30, 2013. According to the report, Samsung shipped over 72 million smartphones, more than double than what Apple shipped (31.2 million units). Samsung's market share for the Q2 2013 stood at 30.4% while Apple's market share who is the second leading smartphone maker is 13.1%.
Samsung's Korean rival, LG is in the third place while the fourth and fifth are taken by Chinese vendors – Lenovo and ZTE.
If we take the mobile phone market, Samsung is again leading the pack with 113.4 million units and 26.2% and is followed by Nokia, Apple, LG, ZTE.
