64-bit phones are getting nearer and nearer to becoming a reality in the Android world, and numerous leaks have indicated that Samsung intends to be among the first to launch a device powered by a 64-bit processor. The SM-G530 was glimpsed in benchmarks earlier this year and was confirmed to be a 64-bit device, and now, the device has shown up on Samsung's mobile site and its UAProf (user agent profile) has revealed an interesting detail – the SM-G530 will be powered by Snapdragon's upcoming 61x range of processors, which consist of Cortex-A53 ARMv8 cores rather than the standard Cortex-A7 cores we've seen on mid-range mobile CPUs until now.
Cortex-A53 cores are designed to be around 50 percent faster and more power efficient than Cortex-A7 CPUs, which means we can expect mid-range devices powered by these chips to offer better performance without sacrificing battery life. As always, there's no telling when the SM-G530 and other 64-bit phones will go official, though that will likely happen only after Android L gets officially released and brings support for 64-bit processing to Google's world dominating mobile operating system.
