SamMobile confirms Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy S4

Android 5.0, or Lollipop as most will prefer to call it, is all the rage these days. It's the biggest update to the world-dominating OS in years, and users have naturally been wondering which devices will be lucky to make the jump to Lollipop. Well, thanks to our sources, we can confirm that Samsung will be updating the Galaxy S4 to Android 5.0. That shouldn't come as surprising since the S4 is still under the 18-month update guarantee period, but it's notable as this would mean that the Galaxy S4 will be getting its third major update after Android 4.3 and 4.4 (though as many will argue, neither were as major as 5.0, and we'd have to agree.)

The Exynos variant (GT-I9500) should receive the update first, sometime early next year, though naturally these plans can always change in the coming months based on how quickly Samsung is able to port everything over, and also on things like carrier and regional delays. In case you missed it, we've already given our readers an exclusive look at Android 5.0 running on the Galaxy S5, and we're guessing Samsung will be aiming to bring the same new look of its software to the S4 as well, and likely other devices like the Galaxy Note 3.

Samsung will pay $10 to Galaxy S4 owners for manipulating benchmark scores

Back in 2013, Samsung and a few other Android manufacturers were caught cheating on smartphone benchmarks. Samsung’s Galaxy S4 was one of the devices to have allegedly engaged in such behavior. Unsurprisingly, a lawsuit was […]
