Samsung had launched the Galaxy Note 4 and the Gear S in India last month but it did not start selling the Gear S immediately. Today, Samsung has started taking pre-orders for the Gear S smartwatch in india through its official online store. The Gear S has been priced at INR 28,900 ($471) and customers can pre-order the device by paying INR 1,000 ($16.31) to get an electronic pre-booking coupon, which can later be used to adjust from the final amount. Unlike most other smartwatches, the Gear S is equipped with a SIM card slot so it can work independently without a need to rely on a companion smartphone. The Tizen-based smartwatch features a 2-inch curved Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, and 4GB of ROM. It can also double up as a health and fitness tracking device, thanks to its inbuilt heart-rate monitor, UV sensor, accelerometer, barometer, and inbuilt GPS connectivity.
The Gear S will be available in the US starting November 7 through all the major carriers. Earlier today, Samsung announced its availability and price in South Korea, though its launch in the UK has been delayed.
