During the official launch of the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 in India, Samsung has officially announced two new Android smartphones, the first ones in the new Galaxy E series; the Galaxy E5 and the Galaxy E7. It turns out that our exclusive report about the specifications of the Galaxy E5 and the Galaxy E7 was spot on. The Galaxy E5 features a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal storage (along with a microSD card slot), an 8-megapixel primary camera, a 5-megapixel secondary camera, and a 2,400 mAh battery. On the other hand, the Galaxy E7 features a 5.5-inch HD display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, a 13-megapixel primary camera, a 5-megapixel secondary camera, and a 2,950 mAh battery. Both the devices are quite slim at just 7.3mm, feature Hybrid dual-SIM card slots, and run Android 4.4 KitKat.
Other software of the devices are similar to the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5. To make use of the 5-megapixel front-facing camera, both the Galaxy E series smartphones are equipped with selfie-related features such as wide-angle selfie, selfie voice command, selfie with palm gesture, and Beauty Face. During the ongoing press event, Samsung has also announced that the Galaxy A series and the Galaxy E series smartphones will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the near future. The Galaxy E5 and the Galaxy E7 are priced at INR 19,300 (~ $305) and INR 23,000 (~ $363) respectively, which is lower than its Galaxy A series counterparts. The Galaxy E series smartphones will be available for purchase in India starting the 20th of January 2015.
