If the two companies are able to settle their differences, Samsung is expected to launch Windows Phone 8.1-powered handsets by the third quarter (Windows Phone 10, or Windows 10 as it is going to be called, will be out by then, and we will probably see it come to these Samsung devices as an update.) Samsung is reportedly looking at Windows Phone as another way of reducing its dependence on Android; Tizen is widely considered as one method Samsung is already using to do that, but the company will reportedly be focusing on TVs when it comes to its in-house mobile OS.
Given how Windows Phone has failed to take off, it remains to be seen if devices running on the OS will really help Samsung ease up on its reliance on Android. As usual, take this rumor with a pinch of salt – Windows Phone devices from Samsung will likely make their way to market in the coming months, but it can't be said if the Korean giant has the aforementioned sinister motive behind it.
