Samsung makes the Galaxy J1 official in Malaysia

After numerous leaks, Samsung has just made its new low-end smartphone official in Malaysia – Samsung Galaxy J1. The device features a 4.3-inch WVGA (800×480) TFT LCD screen, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage which is expandable via a MicroSD card slot, 5 megapixel main camera sensor capable of 720p video recording at 30FPS, 2 megapixel front facing camera for selfies and video calls, and a user-replacable 1850mAh battery.

In terms of connectivity, the J1 sports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, and MicroUSB 2.0 for syncing and charging the device. Sensor-wise, the budget smartphone packs in an accelerometer and a proximity sensor. The device will ship with Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Samsung's low-end version of TouchWiz UX, and special software features including: Ultra Power Saving Mode and Palm Selfie.

Currently, there's no information on pricing and availability. However, according to our sources, it should cost around a €100 in Europe.
