Flying can be pretty hectic as it is with all of the different security checks and regulations to keep in mind so you would certainly not want your luggage to disappear on you once you've arrived, but unfortunately this happens very often. We've all got a story of being stranded at an airport as we wait for our luggage to pop up on the carousel but it never does. With everything under the sun being transformed into a “smart” gadget it's about time someone gave the same treatment to suitcases as well.
Samsung and Samsonite have teamed up to create smart luggage with a chip inside that will allow you to find out the location of your suitcase through GPS. Though initially this would be the only feature offered by the smart suitcases, in the future the luggage might even be capable of sending you a message as it leaves the aircraft and send another message when it's about to join the carousel. Samsonite CEO Ramesh Tainwala said “We are working with Samsung to create something that is more than a gimmick.” He didn't say when Samsonite is going to bring these smart suitcases to the market.
