Samsung had already launched some UHD monitors last year, but it is constantly trying to improve its monitor lineup by adding more features. Today, two new monitors – the U24E590D and the U28E590D – with AMD's FreeSync technology, which were announced back at the company's Future of Compute event last year, went on sale today.
The U24E590D and U28E590D are 24-inch and 28-inch monitors respectively with 4K UHD (3840×2160) resolution, 370cd/m2 brightness, HDMI 2.0, and supports 60 Hz frequency. However, it is to be noted that the 28-inch model has a TN panel (16.7 million colors) with 1ms response time, while the 24-inch model features a PLS panel (1.07 billion) with 4ms response time. Both of them feature an HDMI 2.0 port, an HDMI 1.2 port, and a Display Port 1.2. The U24E590D is priced at $399, while the U28E590D is priced at $599.
AMD's FreeSync technology synchronizes the monitor's refresh rates to eliminate large jumps in frame time for better screen responsiveness and reduction in screen tearing and shuttering, which is quite beneficial for gamers.
