Three weeks after Verizon started distributing the hefty Android 6.0.1 firmware update for its carrier-locked variant of the Galaxy Tab S2, Samsung is now in the midst of rolling out an identical upgrade to all unlocked 8- and 9.7-inch Wi-Fi only variants of the slate located in the United States. This release brings all of the changes you'd expect to find bundled into the latest build of Marshmallow, in addition to a handful of added functionality for default Samsung applications, which includes the option to add images in S Memo.

The update, which carries the firmware number: T710XXU2CDPD, is available to download over-the-air (OTA) via a stable Wi-Fi connection. To see if the upgrade is ready for your Galaxy Tab S2, simply head into Settings, followed by About Device, locate and select Software Update, then hit the Update Now button. Alternatively, you can wait until you receive a push notification prompting you to download and install the update from Samsung’s servers, but you’ll only receive this prompt if you have at least 50% of battery.
