5 things I wish Samsung Galaxy AI could help me with

Galaxy AI is a wonderful introduction to what artificial intelligence can do for smartphones. Samsung has benefitted from the first-mover advantage, as it has established itself as the only major smartphone vendor to bring AI features to smartphones, even though others have made some similar efforts.

Samsung’s marketing blitz around Galaxy AI and the fact that it has already expanded the software to more than 100 million devices ensures that whenever people think about smartphone AI, they ultimately think about Samsung and Galaxy AI.

So while Galaxy AI’s capabilities are impressive, it’s only just the start. There’s much room for improvement, and the following is my wishlist that I’d love to see being implemented in this suite of features.

    Mail and Package Tracking

If you’re anything like me and have a penchant for ordering way too many things online, chances are you also find tracking package deliveries to be a chore. There should be an easier way for my Samsung Galaxy device to handle all of this instead of me having to jump through the various ecommerce platform apps or manually finding the tracking links in my email app to see when the package will arrive.

Galaxy AI could make it all so much easier, if it was capable of pulling in information about all of the packages and mail that I’m expecting, and notifying me accordingly. It could cross-reference expected delivery times with my calendar and notify me if I won’t be able to receive a package that requires a signature were I to not be at home when the delivery is made.

    Travel Tips

Many of us feel that it’s impossible to survive in a new country without a smartphone. We need it for everything from pulling up directions to translating foreign languages, hailing cabs, ordering food, making payments, saving boarding passes, etc. Galaxy AI already has features that can help when traveling abroad, the live translation feature can be a lifesaver in more ways than one, and there’s also a lot of potential here for improvement.

For example, Galaxy AI can provide helpful tips, such as common travel scams to watch out for, what currency conversion option to select at the payment terminal for the best exchange rates, suggest itineraries based on weather forecasts, and plan the most effective routes accordingly.

    Mindfulness and Wellbeing

There’s a lot that Galaxy AI can do in helping support the wellbeing of users, enabling them to embrace mindfulness in their fast-paced lives. Samsung’s Galaxy devices already have Android’s Digital Wellbeing feature that helps set app timers, enable focus mode, etc. A lot of users also rely on third-party apps to help with mindfulness activities such as guided breathing exercises.

Galaxy AI can integrate with Samsung Health and based on either the user’s input or data gathered from wearable devices like the Galaxy Watch, proactively notify users about taking a break, going for a short walk, or perhaps taking a few seconds to go through a breathing exercise that can help lower their stress levels. This is only a rough sketch of what could be done, the possibilities here are endless.

    Price Tracking

There are so many different online ecommerce platforms to choose from these days. It’s also very common for something you want to be priced differently across those platforms. That’s why price tracking websites exist, enabling you to set alerts on the items you want so that you can buy them at the best possible price.

Galaxy AI should be able to help with that as well, eliminating the need for users to manually visit different price tracking platforms. It could integrate with a price tracking engine and provide the same functionality through a much simpler, and hopefully ad-free, user interface to us. Compared to an email that may get buried in the inbox, a timely notification is unlikely to be missed, helping users to act fast and get what they want at their desired price.

    Time and Route Management

Have you ever had a meeting run late in Manhattan, leaving you scrambling to make your next appointment downtown, all while trying to figure out if it's going to be faster to take a cab or the subway? Perhaps you need to hop on the cross-town line as well and if don't know NYC subways like the back of your hand, you could end up missing that appointment entirely.

Galaxy AI could step up in these scenarios as well. Synced with the calendar, it can keep track of all appointments and provide updated time and route information if your previous meeting runs late. If a cab is faster, it can send you a notification and you can have one on its way with just one tap, helping you to get out the door and straight into a car that gets you to where you need to be next without wasting valuable time.

It goes without saying that Galaxy AI will go from strength to strength as Samsung continues to build out its capabilities. These are just a few examples of what Galaxy AI can help users achieve. It has the potential to completely transform the way we use our phones. That's Samsung's stated objective with Galaxy AI as well, so we can hope that the pace of innovation is kept rapid and we're treated to significantly more capable Galaxy AI features in the near future.
