U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh earlier today announced a sales ban on Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the United States. It's somewhat surprising because Koh had denied the injunction request earlier but was instructed by federal appeals court to reconsider the decision on request of Apple.
“Although Samsung has a right to compete, it does not have a right to compete unfairly, by flooding the market with infringing products,” Koh wrote.
The preliminary injunction will be effective once Apple posts a $2.6m bond so as to safeguard the Korean giant's losses if the preliminary injunction is proved wrong in the trial in July.
Although the decision won't have a major impact on Samsung's business, the company has confirmed to have filed an appeal against the injunction.
