Samsung is having issues mass producing their “YOUM” branded flexible AMOLED Displays
We all were expecting Samsung to release their YOUM flexible AMOLED displays in Q4 2012, as all the rumors were pointing toward this time frame, but the Korean Giant is facing difficulties mass producing their YOUM Displays. Samsung first decided that they will create a new manufacturing line just for their YOUM displays but later decided that they will use their existing A2 line for easier supervision. The problems is said to be not with the blue diode, which is produced with the existing FMM method that Samsung makes the Galaxy series AMOLED screens with, but rather with the red and green ones, which have to be produced by the new Laser-Induced Thermal Imaging (LITI) method. LTI can achieve much higher pixel densities and is also much cheaper then FMM.
If Samsung soon figures out a solution to their problem then we can see their High-Resolution, unbreakable, flexible AMOLED displays implemented in Mobile device from Q1 2013.
