Samsung's strategy of offering devices at different price points has made them retain its position as the top handset maker in the Chinese market. Research data by Strategy Analytics claims that Samsung sold more than 15 million smartphones in the world's biggest telecom market, earning them the top position for sixth consecutive quarter. 78.8 million smartphones were sold in China in the last quarter that ended in June, accounting for 34 percent of sales worldwide.

Samsung's market share for the quarter stood at 19.4 percent followed by local players like Lenovo, Coolpad, ZTE. Apple on the other hand, managed a market share of just 4.3 percent by selling about 3.4 million iPhones.
