Stop! Do not adjust your display, what you see in the image below is exactly as it is supposed to be – Samsung's upcoming smartphone with a flexible smartphone – supposed to be called Galaxy Round – has been revealed in an image by relentless leaker evleaks, and it shows off what looks like a Galaxy S4 with the entire device curving from left to right, including the screen itself, made possible by Samsung's flexible display.
A recent rumor had hinted that the Galaxy Round will have its screen curved at the edges, and that is pretty much confirmed by the image posted by evleaks. To be honest, we aren't sure what to make of it – on one hand, we've been pretty excited about seeing a flexible display on a smartphone, but the device pictured simply looks odd and unnatural. However, it's quite early to pass judgement based on just a photo, so we'll keep our fingers crossed that Samsung can make a good case for why we'd want to buy its flexible display-toting smartphone (other than the fact that the flexible display is much stronger than standard displays, as it's made of plastic substrate instead of glass).
Oh, and the rather wide USB 3.0 port at the bottom of the device indicates that the Galaxy Round will be based on the Galaxy Note 3 as has been rumored lately (though it does look like the Galaxy S4, so it's possible it's just a curved S4 with an upgraded USB port), with a launch on Korean carrier SKT. It remains to be seen if there will be an international launch – whether that happens or not, don't expect it to be cheap or easily available, as Samsung is reportedly going to be producing limited units.
Now, time for you guys to let us know what you think about that, um, curvy thing Samsung has cooked up for us in the name of introducing the world to smartphones with flexible displays!
