Samsung could be working on a new budget smartphone that runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. An SM-G310 is currently undergoing testing in India, with its shipping info on Zauba mentioning a 3.97-inch screen. According to a tipster on Twitter, the display will sport a standard-for-low-end-devices resolution of 800×480, and the phone will be powered by a dual-core Broadcom BCM2763 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. As with other budget Samsung models, the SM-G310 will have dual SIM slots, though a variant with a single SIM slot will be made available as well.
With Google optimizing KitKat to run on low-end devices, the SM-G310 could become the first budget smartphone from Samsung to offer the latest and greatest version of Android. We haven't seen the device make an appearance in any other leaks or rumors yet, so an announcement and launch is likely a month or two away, probably a few weeks after the Galaxy S5 breaks cover at MWC.
