Serial leakster @evleaks has done it again. This time around, he ousted images of the Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear 2 Neo, two devices that Samsung was rumored to launch at the Mobile World Congress next week. Latest rumors regarding the Galaxy Gear 2 indicated that Samsung was considering a design overhaul for the device, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The image does showcase devices that look similar to the original Galaxy Gear, and while they do feature a slimmer bezel, the design is reminiscent of that of the Galaxy Gear. From the naming convention, it looks like the Galaxy Gear 2 will be the flagship smartwatch, with the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo being the affordable version.

Samsung is said to be bringing a more robust feature set to both devices. The first-generation Galaxy Gear failed to find mainstream consumer attention because of its lacklustre feature set. Interestingly, both the Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear 2 Neo look like they feature a small hardware button at the bottom of the watch face. Details as far as both devices are concerned aren’t known yet, but Samsung is set to kick off its MWC event in two days’ time, so at least we don’t have to wait long to find out.

Update 2: A new higher quality image of the Samsung Gear 2, in orange, has been posted by the leakster.

Samsung's latest commercial is an exciting departure from the usual examination of features and technical details. Samsung’s Galaxy Gear 2 to be powered by Tizen and not Android?

Now this is one rumor that should be taken with vast swathes of salt, but according to USA Today and “three sources,” the Galaxy Gear 2 will run on Tizen, not Android, as part of Samsung's plans to “develop more of its own software and services.” Samsung will reportedly unveil the second-generation Gear alongside a new HTML5 version […]

Samsung considering a lower price point for the Galaxy Gear 2

Samsung has seen an underwhelming consumer interest thus far in the Galaxy Gear. The South Korean manufacturer’s first smartwatch hasn’t sold as well as it would’ve liked, and although total sales of 800,000 units globally were touted, they were sales to retailers and not end-users. In an effort to turn things around for the Galaxy […]

Report: Galaxy Gear 2 to feature considerably different design, flexible display

The Galaxy Gear, unlike what the critics say, is a rather nice smartwatch, but when it comes to the design, it is rather uninspired. Samsung has acknowledged that they could have done better and are working on making the Galaxy Gear 2 more fashionable, and according to ZDNet, the Gear 2 will also feature a […]
