Samsung is rolling out the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite globally, with the tablet set to make its official debut in Taiwan in March. The device will be offered in the recently unveiled pink and blue color variants. The Galaxy Tab 3 Lite comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and runs TouchWiz with a few custom utilities. One such utility will be a “Kid Mode” that allows adults to password protect content and limit the kind of content that can be accessed by kids on the tablet. In addition, the device will also come with a three month subscription to “Mag V Kids”, a service that offers education as well as entertainment content that is catered to children.
The Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is also said to feature other entertainment features like exclusive games. The “Kid Mode” feature is said to be available via a software update that will be roll out in the month of May. The Tab 3 Lite features a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory, microSD card slot to boost memory to 32 GB, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and a 3,600 mAh battery. The device comes with a 2 MP camera at the back that can shoot videos as well as images. It is a Wi-Fi only variant and connects using Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n. The Galaxy tab 3 Lite will be available for NT $5,290 ($175) and will commence selling from next month.
