Samsung India officially announced its latest flagship device, the Galaxy S5, at a media event in New Delhi today. The device will be available starting April 11th in the country. Samsung also announced that its latest line of wearable devices that include the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit will be available in the country. The price of the handset hasn't been announced yet, but it is expected to be somewhere between Rs. 51,000 and Rs. 53,000 (a major retailer based out of Hyderabad believes that the Galaxy S5 price would be Rs. 51,500). The Galaxy S5 will be available in all four color variants (black, white, blue, and gold) in the country, and pre-bookings will go live on March 29th.

Samsung has announced that it would lavish more attention on the Indian market this year. The South Korean manufacturer has sold over 35 million smartphones and tablets in India, and while its numbers have declined of late, devices like the Galaxy S5 should boost sales considerably. The Galaxy S5 comes with a 5.1-inch AMOLED full-HD Screen, 2 GB RAM, 1.9 GHz octa-core Exynos 5422 CPU (with support for using all eight cores at once), 16 MP camera, 16/32 GB internal memory along with the ability to add 128 GB SD cards and a fingerprint scanner at the back. Also included on the device is a heart rate sensor that checks your pulse. In addition to the hardware features, the Galaxy S5 boasts the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat, with features like Kids Mode, Ultra Power Saving Mode for extended battery life, and more.
