It was earlier reported that the Galaxy S5 has enjoyed strong sales on the first day of launch, selling almost 1.3 times more than its predecessor did on its debut. This has given analysts some hope about the new flagship's prospects in the market, and now company insiders suggest that Samsung is aiming to ship 35 million Galaxy S5s in the second quarter of this year (April to June), and in turn generate around 17 trillion won in revenue. This has also made analysts optimistic about Samsung's profit margins, despite the company forecasting reduced profits for a second consecutive time.
As usual, the shipment figure isn't the same as the number of units that will actually make it into the hands of consumers, but thanks to the popularity of the Galaxy S line of phones, Samsung should be able to achieve the sales records of previous flagships quite easily. Whether the Galaxy S5 can do something to solve the saturation in the high-end smartphone market in the long run remains to be seen, but for now, it looks like the Galaxy S5's future as yet another Android blockbuster is secured pretty nicely.
