Samsung has continued to show its dedication to improving its OLED TVs, with plans to bring out cost-effective OLED TVs in the next two to three years. At the SID-2014 event, Samsung Display showed off a new OLED display technology that aims to fix some of the architectural problems that have plagued OLED TVs compared to their LCD counterparts. This new OLED tech features improved display lifetimes (up to 8 times higher than previous displays), reduced image retention, and also reduced power consumption. It will also allow the manufacturing of larger display panels with resolutions up to 4K, something that has not been possible thanks to the limitations of OLED technology in use today.
