During the third annual Startup Nations Summit, which was held in Seoul, South Korea, Oculus VR co-founder and CEO, Brendan Iribe stated that they will be working with Samsung to release more VR products like the Gear VR. “We'll work closely with Samsung to develop more products. We successfully launched the Gear VR with Samsung this year and I'm sure we will continue close relation with Samsung, as always,” he said. He declined to comment on the specifics during the summit, but he explained the importance of vision to the people who run or work at startups. However, Samsung declined to comment on the matter. The startup summit was attended by over 45 startups, all competing to attract funds from the likes of Hyundai, Huawei, and Google.
Samsung, in partnership with Oculus VR, developed its first VR (virtual reality) headset, the Gear VR. The Gear VR was announced alongside the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge during Samsung's event at IFA 2014.
