Smartphones exploding isn't exactly a frequent occurrence, but when something like this does happen, it manages to become a hotly debated topic across the internet. However, it seems one case of a Samsung phone exploding might have gone unnoticed since October. A CBC News report has revealed that a Galaxy Ace exploded next to Hope Casserly – an Ontario University student – while she was sleeping, an incident that was only reported on Monday this week. The phone was not charging and was simply resting still on the girl's bedside; the battery exploded and caused her bed to catch fire, but she thankfully managed to put it out with her pillow.
Samsung has reportedly replaced the device for her and has sent the damaged device back to South Korea for investigation. Casserly is also asking Samsung to pay for damaged bedding and mattress, which together cost over CAD 1,000, and it's like the Korean manufacturer will oblige with that demand given the severity of the whole incident.
