At CES 2015, Samsung has made it clear that the Internet-of-Things (IoT) is something the company will have a huge focus on in the future, as it looks toward making all its devices connected together. In fact, Samsung is so serious about IoT that B. K. Yoon, Samsung’s co-CEO, announced at CES that all the company's products will be IoT-enabled within five years. That's a huge statement to make, but given how the market is moving forward, it certainly looks like something Samsung will be pretty excited about, especially given the varied types of electronics it manufactures.
As far as the near-term is concerned, Yoon believes that 90 percent of Samsung products would be able to connect to the internet by 2017. IoT is certainly an important market, as it can make controlling various appliances remotely pretty easy, and it remains to be seen if other major manufacturers out there will hop on the IoT train anytime soon. Samsung is at a good starting position thanks to its financial and technological might, but we will have to wait and watch if the company really is able to put the internet on all its products in the next half decade.
