Samsung Galaxy S6 case suggests different placement for heart rate sensor and LED flash

Smartphone case manufacturers have a rather awful habit of listing cases of devices that are months away from launch, exciting the rumor mills in the process. The Galaxy S6 is a hugely anticipated smartphone, and it seems a Chinese retailer has jumped the gun and listed a case designed for Samsung's next flagship. While there's no telling if this case is genuine or not (it's hard to believe it's real given even most of Samsung's employees never know the final design of its flagships ahead of launch), it does show something interesting: the heart rate sensor and the LED flash seem to have been moved to the right of the camera sensor.

On the Galaxy S5, both the sensor and flash are placed below the camera, and that is also the case on the Galaxy Note 4. The cutout for the camera itself seems to be of the same shape, so we're basically looking at a shuffling up of the hardware on the back rather than a true redesign, even though the latter is what Samsung is supposedly working on for the next Galaxy S flagship. Also, it seems there is no slot for a speaker grille on the back (could the cutouts on the top be the loudspeaker?) nor a cutout for the headphone jack up top, so this could mean that a lot of shuffling has been done on the device as far as the port placements are concerned.

As usual, it's hard to say if we're looking at a case that really is for the Galaxy S6. This could either be a case of a retailer looking to get some page views instead of a genuine product, or it could be the real deal. Only time till tell – with the Galaxy S6 set to be unveiled at MWC in March, we won't have to wait too long to find out.
