Looks like Samsung is trying to attract more consumers by offering free online storage space with their first Tizen-based smartphone, the Z1. All the consumers who bought the Samsung Z1 are eligible to receive 48GB of free online storage space on Dropbox. Even though the Z1 started off with a slow start in India, apparently Samsung managed to sell over 50,000 units of the device within 10 days of its launch. Unlike the Galaxy S and the Galaxy Note series of smartphones, which come with a 2-year eligibility for the free online storage on Dropbox, the Z1 users will be limited to just one year from the day of activation.
When it comes to the on-device storage space, the Z1 features 4GB ROM and a microSD card slot. The device sports a 4-inch WVGA display, a dual-core processor, 768MB RAM, two SIM card slots, and a 1,500 mAh battery. The device has also received a couple of software updates within a time frame of just one week. Priced at INR 5,700 (~ $92), it is currently available only in India, with no clear indications from Samsung about its release plans in other countries.
