Steve Lee, the president of Samsung Russia, has been shown the door if reports out of Russia are to be believed. The change comes ahead of layoffs at the company expected next month which will reportedly claim 20 percent of the employees at Samsung Russia. Even though the subsidiary's individual performance has not been disclosed it is believed that Samsung's market share in the Russian smartphone market has dropped by 10 percent in terms of unit shipments as opposed to last year. Steve Lee was given the job in May 2014 and it has been less than a year since he has been at the helm of Samsung Russia.
On the other hand Apple's share in the Russian market has increased. iPhone sales in the country were said to be 60 percent higher in 2014 as opposed to 2013 with majority of the sales being accounted by Apple's stellar fourth quarter.
According to reports Lee was dismissed because he “did not meet expectations.”
