Google today announced that it is rolling out a new version of its Chrome browser for Android. Usually the changelog only states generic changes like performance improvements and bug fixes if no new features are being added. Chrome for Android's latest version, 40.0.2214.109, doesn't bring any new features however the changelog does mention one particular fix that is exclusive to some Samsung devices. Apart from that it brings the usual slew of security fixes, stability and performance improvements. Mainly it fixes a permissions error that users were facing on some Samsung devices.
A quick look at the issue tracker shows that this issue was being faced on devices like the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 by some users. Chrome would tell them that “unauthorized access to a secure area has been blocked” every time the browser was launched. Some even said that completely wiping the smartphone didn't even fix the issue.
Well, the latest version of Chrome for Android does, and its now live on the Google Play Store.
