Time and again Samsung has made it very clear that it intends to be a leader in the Internet of Things. The company is leading this charge with smart products of its own, while its recent acquisition SmartThings works on a platform through which developers can offer apps for connected devices. Just last month CEO BK Yoon revealed that Samsung will invest $100 million in the development of a new open framework which will allow wearable devices to communicate with connected objects. No wonder Fast Company, a leading monthly magazine, has ranked Samsung Electronics as 2nd in the World's Top 10 Most Innovative Companies of 2015 in Internet of Things.
At the start of every year Fast Company puts together a list of most innovative companies in every sector including but not limited to the press, finance, automobiles, and more.
Samsung's recent efforts to promote the Internet of Things include formation of the Open Interconnect Consortium with partners like Broadcom, Dell and Intel which is aimed at improving cooperation in this arena.
