As a result of a collaboration between Samsung and Lionsgate fans of The Divergent Series will get access to an exclusive virtual reality experience that will embed them in the world of the upcoming film titled The Divergent Series: Insurgent. The INSURGENT – SHATTER REALITY is a four minute fully-immersive 360° narrative experience that is set in the world of the new film and it features stars from the film which include Kate Winslet, Miles Teller and Mekhi Phifer. Starting February 27th Gear VR users will be able to experience this VR content as INSURGENT – SHATTER REALITY heads on a tour in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Austin and San Francisco before going live across all platforms and app stores.
This VR experience will be available exclusively on Samsung Milk VR until March 1st before it goes live for other platforms and app stores. Those who are not located in the tour markets will also be able to experience this over the weekend of March 7-8 as Samsung's mini-stores inside select Best Buy stores across the U.S. will offer this VR experience.
Users are immediately immersed in the role of Divergent members of society once they put on the Gear VR headset. The members have been captured by Jeanine Matthews, played by Kate Winslet, and her Erudite faction and they are then subjected to a few mental “simulations” so that the full extent of their divergence can be discovered.
