Verizon customers, today is the day. April 1st has come, and, no joking here, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are available for pre-order.
New information pouring in from Verizon sweetens the deal for those looking for the “six appeal” devices that have won the hearts of tech analysts and consumers alike. From its own blog, Verizon states that there are two “deals” that come with your Galaxy S6 or S6 edge pre-order: first, pre-order customers can get trade-in value for their smartphones, with Galaxy S4 customers getting $150 for a device in excellent condition and Galaxy S5 customers getting $200 for an excellent-condition device.
The trade-in deal may allow you to pick up a new 32GB Galaxy S6 edge for free, particularly if you trade in your GS5 – since the 32GB Galaxy S6 costs $199.99 with Verizon and the $200 will cover the up-front cost (not the activation fee, mind you).
Beyond this, however, there’s another special deal for S6 and S6 edge pre-order customers: customers who order one of Samsung’s newest smartphones can get a Gear S for $150 off. This takes the price of the Gear S ($349.99) down to $199.99 with a two-year agreement, of course. Some may say that $200 is still too much for a smartwatch out-of-pocket, but when you consider its 3G connectivity and the ability to make calls, send texts, and check email on the go is just $5 per month extra, a two-year contract isn’t that terrifying.
Those who don’t prefer a Gear S but certainly want another deal may find the tablet deal tempting. The 10-inch Galaxy Tab 4 can be yours with the purchase of a new GS6 or S6 edge for $99.99, down from the regular $229.99 price, while the Tab S price falls from $499.99 to $249.99. Both of course, come with two-year agreements.
These deals are “limited promotions” by Verizon, so don’t wait too long. And if you’re a little hesitant because you really want a Gold Platinum Galaxy S6 on Big Red’s network, know that the Gold Platinum GS6 was confirmed with Verizon earlier this week.
