According to a new report out of Korea, Samsung Display has once separated the LCD and OLED divisions from each other. Apparently the company is taking this step to bolster marketing capabilities of each division by placing sales experts at the respective top positions. Sources cited in the report also claim that Samsung is interested in resuming its OLED TV business. Samsung Display's LCD division is focused on products like monitors, TV and tablets whereas the OLED division is concerned more with mobile phones.
Industry sources believe that this move from Samsung Display is going to give the company's OLED business a new chance. The chances of investment in new projects after the re-establishment of the OLED division are high as even the Samsung Group is reportedly thinking when it can make an investment in next-generation OLED displays. As far as OLED TVs are concerned it is said that currently Samsung Display is only checking the timing of mass production and is focused on research and development of large-screen OLED panels.
