I don't like locking my phone with a PIN or password. Ever since I started using smartphones, I've never secured any of my devices with a password, PIN, pattern or any other locking method that can be found on mobile operating systems these days. I like being able to quickly access my phone without fidgeting with a lock code, and I don't really care if others look at the content on my phone (though I do expect them to be sensible and not go about reading my messages on WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.)
When Samsung introduced a fingerprint sensor on its devices with the Galaxy S5, my only reaction was “meh, I don't need that thing.” When I bought the Galaxy Note 4, I only tried out the fingerprint scanner once and then went back to the standard swipe lock. In addition to my aversion to password protecting my devices, the swipe-based nature of the fingerprint sensor employed by Samsung also made sure I never looked at the option after my first day with the Note 4.
With the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, Samsung has finally moved to a touch fingerprint sensor, a la Apple's iPhone. The new sensor is very accurate, and it's also very fast at detecting your fingerprint and unlocking the device. In fact, it's so good that even my Galaxy S6 edge is currently set to unlock only with my (and my girlfriend's) fingerprint. The convenience offered by the mix of the home button and fingerprint sensor mean I can simply press and hold the home button for a couple of seconds, instead of first waking up the screen and then swiping on the display to unlock the phone.

My friends and co-workers are aware of my backup password so they can access my phone when they want, so it's not because of security reasons that I'm using the fingerprint sensor, but because of the aforementioned convenience. It's been on my mind for a few days, and I thought I'd finally ask our readers – are you using the fingerprint sensor on your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge? Are you using it because it works so well, because it's so effortless to use, or maybe because of a combination of both?
