Samsung’s Gear S is the beast of the smartwatch world currently, but a number of Samsung Galaxy users may not be willing to dabble into a two-year agreement with a carrier, nor are they willing to pay full retail price for it. The Gear S is certainly worth the buy (considering that there are a number of Android Wear smartwatches that do a whole lot less for a sharp price tag), but some consumers hold out their money until a discount comes along. If you’re a discount-hungry shopper, a new Gear S price drop may just appeal to your wallet.
Expansys UK now has the Samsung Gear S available for £274.99 ($411-$412), down from the former £329.99 ($494) price tag. This is a savings of £55, or $82 USD. For the new price, you’re still getting the smartwatch with the best specs and features: a 2-inch, curved AMOLED display, IP67 water and dust resistance, a 1Ghz, dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of random access memory (RAM), 4GB of memory storage, heart rate monitor, and 300mAh battery.
This doesn’t take into account the Wi-Fi and 3G data capabilities that let you view news, emails, send texts, and make phone calls, all without Bluetooth or a smartphone nearby. The Gear S also runs Samsung’s own OS, Tizen, and the Gear S battery life (2-4 days) is more than enough to justify why it isn’t running Android. The price above applies to the Pure White model; the Blue Black model will cost you £284.99.
When tech site Tizen Experts made the announcement, there were 34 Gear S smartwatches left available (Pure White). As of now, there are 31 Gear S smartwatches left at the price provided.
The Gear S will be the industry-leading smartwatch until Samsung’s “next big thing” this September, but it is a wonderful buy today. If you’re interested in joining Samsung’s smartwatch revolution, head on over to Expansys and get your Gear S soon – before they sell out.
