Benchmark app company AnTuTu is known for its smartphone rankings in both individual countries and the world as a whole, and Q1 2015’s end has now given the company a chance to publish its popular smartphone ranking results once again. The results will put a smile on the faces of the Samsung faithful.

Samsung, having regained lost market share in Q1 2015, has also gone on to top AnTuTu’s “Top 10 Popular Smartphones in the World” for the same quarter. The Korean manufacturer’s Galaxy Note 4 was the most popular Samsung phone, with nearly 10% (9.87%) of global users rocking the company’s latest phablet. The Galaxy S5 came in second with 7.68% popularity, though it’s not a surprise: despite the “gloom and doom” message we’ve heard about the Galaxy S5, it was (and still is) a stellar smartphone for its time. Tech analysts weren’t impressed, but apparently, consumers were. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 came in second to last, but we don’t expect the legendary, 19-month-old smartphone to break any records in its “old” age.

AnTuTu also published smartphone popularity rankings for not only the world, but also individual countries. How did Samsung fare in individual countries? Samsung’s Galaxy S5 came in ninth in mainland China, second, fourth, sixth, and eighth place in Hong Kong (Note 3, Note 4, GS4, Note 2), first, second, and eighth place in the US (Note 4, GS5, Note 3), ninth place (Galaxy S5) in Taiwan, second, third, fifth, sixth, seventh, and ninth in Russia (GS4, GS5, Note 3, GS3, Note 4, Galaxy Alpha), all top three spots in Korea (Note 4, Note 3), third and fourth in Malaysia (Note 3, Note 4), ninth in India (GS4), first, third, fifth, and eighth place in Germany (GS5, Note 4, GS4, Note 3, GS3), and second, third, seventh, and tenth place in Vietnam (Galaxy J, Note 4, Note 3, Galaxy Grand Prime).

Overall, the Galaxy S5 placed in 5 of the 10 countries examined, and the Note 4 placed in 6 of the 10 countries for its smartphone popularity. In contrast, Android rival LG placed in 6 of the 10 countries with G2 and G3 users, while HTC only placed in 4 of the 10 countries, Sony placed in 3 out of 10 countries (Xperia Z3), Xiaomi placed in 4 out of 10 countries, Asus placed in 5 out of 10 countries, and Motorola's Moto X placed in 2 out of 10 countries.

The results of AnTuTu’s smartphone popularity rankings show that Samsung is still a popular global brand and a force to be reckoned with. If you love Samsung, it turns out that you’re in good company.
