The Samsung NX1 firmware 1.3 upgrade was recently released and it brings a host of new features and improvements particularly for the camera's video recording as it gets a major improvement in quality. Firmware 1.3 for the NX1 doubles the amount of data read by the camera's sensor and this results into improved quality of the 60p Full HD video with more detail and significantly less noise.
Firmware 1.3 also adds Full HD 120p recording to the camera allowing for much smoother video capture, previously users had to switch to slow-motion for 120p recording but it's now the standard option even when recording voice. This upgrade also allows the user to adjust the sensitivity of the manual focus in both still and video modes, and it enables the camera to display histogram and digital levels during standby/recording mode. Users will notice while shooting stills that the auto focus performance has been greatly improved as there's a new Zone AF which enables them to focus on and track a moving object in a particular area.
Samsung NX1 firmware 1.3 upgrade can be downloaded from Samsung.com and copied to the camera's SD card, or the upgrade can be applied through the iLaunch software. If the camera is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi the upgrade can easily be downloaded over-the-air on the NX1 itself.
