Kantar Worldpanel ComTech today released latest smartphone sales data for the three months ending May 2015 and the data shows that due to strong Galaxy S6 sales Samsung has been able to regain the number one manufacturer spot in the United States. The change was witnessed after the first full month of sales of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge with Samsung's share in the US smartphone market increasing from 52% in April to 55% in May.
The data from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech also shows that the first full month of sales of its latest flagship helped the Korean company improve its share in the US smartphone market period-over-period with the Galaxy S6 becoming the country's third best-selling smartphone after the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy S5. An improvement in the company's year-over-year performance was also witnessed with overall US market share down only 0.5 percentage point after three months ending May instead of 1.6 percentage points after three months ending April 2015. Overall Android OS continued to increase its position in the US smartphone market, coming in at 64.9% at the end of last month.
