Android 5.1.1 Lollipop released for the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 LTE

Good news for all the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 LTE owners out there! Samsung has started rolling out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the tablet (SM-T335) in Switzerland, giving it a huge jump from Android 4.4.2 to Android 5.1.1, leaving Android 5.0.2 in the dust.

Of course, this might disappoint users of the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, which was updated to Android 5.0.2 and might be waiting a while before getting 5.1. The Tab 4 8.0 update has the build number T335XXU1BOF8; you can either wait for the OTA to hit your device, or download it from our firmware section and use ODIN to flash it manually. Remember that these updates go out in a phased manner, so it will likely be a few days before everyone in Switzerland receives the OTA, and a few days more for the update to reach other regions.

Galaxy S5 gets December update in India, still on Android 5.0

Samsung might take a long time to bring out major new versions of Android to its devices, but it also manages to offer long-lasting support to at least its flagship devices. The Galaxy S5 is still getting minor software updates, and it just got another one in India this week. Sadly, the update doesn't bump […]

T-Mobile pushes Android 5.1.1 update to the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge

Just a day before the last month of the year is set to begin, T-Mobile has started updating the Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910T) and Galaxy Note Edge (SM-N915T) to Android 5.1.1. Rolling out over the air, the update should bring everything that is part of 5.1.1 (which isn't a lot in terms of user-facing features), and […]

Samsung UK: No Android Lollipop update for the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4

Samsung UK is at it again. This particular branch of the Korean giant has always been rather active on Twitter when it comes to informing users whether a particular device will get updated to a newer version of Android or not. It hasn't always been right – Samsung UK had said that the Galaxy E5 would not be […]

Do Samsung users passionately care about getting latest Android versions? Your vote matters!

Do Samsung users passionately care about getting latest Android versions? Your vote matters!

We have already reviewed Samsung's messed up policy for Android updates, the company usually sends out updates with bug fixes and security improvements but doesn't bump up the Android version. This can end up confusing the user since many devices are still running Android 5.0 and users are concerned about when the latest iteration of Android […]
