This weekend major UK retailer Carphone Warehouse announced that it had recently been hit by a major data breach which resulted in personal information of more than 2.4 million customers being compromised. This led many to believe that the hack might have affected Samsung Experience Stores as well that are operated by Carphone Warehouse but a spokesperson for the company has confirmed that this isn't the case.
Samsung signed a partner agreement with Carphone Warehouse about two years ago to expand its retail presence across major markets in Europe, particularly the United Kingdom. Samsung Experience Stores operates within Carphone Warehouse locations across the United States with the retailer tasked with operating those mini-stores. A Samsung spokesperson tells Android Central that the company is aware of the situation stemming from the Carphone Warehouse data breach and can confirm “this will not impact Samsung Experience Stores.”
