By the end of August, Samsung announced its Z1 beta testing program that would allow some specific users to test out new firmware on their devices before anyone else. The purpose of the program is to provide feedback for the tech company's new operating system, and there's even a prize pool of INR 1,000 involved.
Now, the beta testing program is coming to India for users owning a Samsung Z1 with the latest Z1 MR binary version (Z130HDDU0BOH1). Before updating you should consider installing KIES 3, and make a backup for reverting to Tizen 2.3 if the latest version has any problems. If you're not a beta tester, then you can apply for a chance to win some nice prizes in exchange for your feedback.
Here's what's new in Tizen 2.4 for all those who are interested in updating:
- Ultra Data Saving Mode
- Hide your personal messages & memo
- Record your voice along with your favorite songs
- Easy video player controls
- Easy memo creation, adding To-Do to Memo
- Enhanced Messaging
- Easy setup wizard
- Adding/Removing widgets from Home screen made easier now
It's no big surprise to see the beta testing program for Tizen 2.4 roll out in India as the country has played a decisive role in Tizen's development with Tizen-exclusive devices like the Z3, and the fact that the country is currently the manufacturer for the Z1. If this program turns out to be a success, then we could see it expand across other countries as well, but for now we're keeping an eye on India's Z1 Tizen 2.4 beta testing program.
