Samsung announced the consumer version of its Gear VR headset a couple of weeks ago bringing virtual reality to the people for just $99 per unit, demand for content will certainly increase once the public gets its handsets on the headset which is why Samsung announced that some new content partners have committed to creating apps for its headset. Video streaming service Hulu is one of those partners and it says that its Gear VR app will be ready for release in November.
Hulu rival Netflix has already released its VR app for the headset whereas Vimeo and Twitch will also be arriving in the near future. Tim Connolly, head of distribution at Hulu, tells CNET that “we're ready to go” on the app and plan to release it for the Gear VR next month. Hulu has also confirmed its interest in creating original series filmed for virtual reality with no 2D elements, this will no doubt require substantial investment from the company and will be an indication that Hulu is certainly serious about virtual reality.
