Samsung launched its second Tizen-based smartphone, the Z3, in India during the company's event yesterday. During the event, the company claimed that Tizen now stands as the second largest smartphone operating system in India after Android in the budget segment, which makes it larger than Windows Phone.

Asim Warsi, VP of Samsung India – IT and mobile, said, “Tizen is the second-largest OS in the budget segment in India.” during the launch of the Z3. This means that the first smartphone based on Tizen was more popular than budget Windows Phone devices in India. A few months ago, the South Korean smartphone giant claimed that they were able to sell more than a million units of the Z1 within the six months of its launch, primarily in India and Bangladesh.

The company organised Tizen Developer Summit 2015 in Bengaluru, India a few months ago, and managed to attract a lot of developers. Samsung hopes to sell a million units of the Z3 in just three months. HC Hong, President and Chief Executive of Samsung India Electronics, said. “We were encouraged by the huge popularity of Samsung Z1, the first Tizen OS powered smartphone that sold over one million units within six months of its launch earlier this year.
