We exclusively reported earlier this year that Samsung had an 18.4-inch tablet in the pipeline, the company teased this device a couple of times before formally launching it as the Galaxy View “movable display.” It's an entirely different category altogether since it's not really meant to do the tasks you would with a normal tablet, the fact that it has a big 18.4-inch display shows that this device is meant for the express purpose of content consumption and it does come with software features that provide just that.
Folks in the United States can already purchase the movable display from Samsung but those who want to purchase it from a wireless carrier can soon purchase it from AT&T which is the only carrier in the country that's selling this device. AT&T is selling the tablet for $0 down and equal monthly installments of $30 per month for 20 months on its tablet installment plan, customers can also choose to purchase it with a two year service contract for $499.99. The carrier is offering promotional pricing for DirecTV customers, new and existing. New customers can buy the Galaxy View for $99 with a two year contract when they sign up for a new service, all existing users have to do is activate a new line with a smartphone to also get the Galaxy View for $99.99 with a two year contract. The Galaxy View will be available from AT&T online and through its retail stores from November 20.
