Samsung has announced the launch of the Samsung Pay Transportation Card Service today, it enables people who use its mobile payments service to effortlessly pay for their journey on public transport. It basically combines the T-Money and Cashbee service in one simple solution that handles all modes of public transport. Once transportation cards are registered Samsung Pay enables users to access those cards for transport methods like metro, buses and taxis without having to juggle different cards or apps.
Paying for the journey then is as simple as tapping the smartphone against the card reader, plus users can easily recharge their transportation cards from the credit or debit cards that are already registered with Samsung Pay. Mobile T-Mobile can be recharged using Samsung and KB Kookmin cards, Cashbee cards can only be recharged with Lotte cards right now, but Samsung will expand this partnership with more card companies in the near future. As you may have guessed by now, the Samsung Pay Transportation Card Service has only been launched in Korea as of now where it's already live. Perhaps in the future the company might bring the same ease of use for public transport payments to other markets it operates in.
