The app collection for Samsung's latest smartwatch is growing bigger with each passing day. Today, Pear Sports has launched its real-time coaching and fitness tracking app which is optimized for the Gear S2. If you haven't heard about the company yet, Pear Sports has been building fitness tracking apps for quite some time. The company's apps focus on interactive audio workout sessions and personalised training for cycling, running, and strength training.
The Pear Sports app for the Gear S2 works in tandem with the smartwatch's heart-rate monitor to provide the intensity of the workout. However, you need to turn off auto HR mode for it to work without any issues. The company has also introduced a dedicated watch face that shows a user's ‘activity class'. While using the app on the Gear S2, the smartwatch needs to be in proximity with the connected smartphone so that it can display data points such as distance covered and calories burned.

The company claims that its wide range of training programs are designed by leading fitness instructors and olympians. You can install the Pear Sports app from the Galaxy Apps store or the Gear Apps store, and grab the 3-month complimentary premium subscription to get started. The introduction of good quality apps is certainly a good sign for the Gear S2, but Samsung needs thousands of apps to compete with the Apple Watch and other Android Wear-powered rival smartwatches.
