Samsung is investing $300 million in Vietnam to set up a research and development center in Hanoi. The Vietnamese government has approved Samsung's plan to build a mobile communication research and development facility, the government has allowed the company to operate the center without having to pay rent for the next five decades.

The company already operates a R&D center in a leased building in Hanoi, however, due to limited space the company couldn't increase the number of employees at the facility as required following the expansion of its business in Vietnam. The new R&D center will enable Samsung to expand its staff as per its requirements. Samsung already operates multiple production facilities in the country located in the Bac Ninh province near Hanoi and the Thai Nguyen province.
