Samsung bundled the Gear VR with Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge preorders in India, but the company didn't ship the virtual reality headset with the smartphone. Instead, it will start shipping the Gear VR (worth INR 7,900) to customers within 90 days from March 18, 2016. If you had preordered a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge in India, here's how you can claim the Gear VR for free.

  1. Download the My Galaxy app from the Google Play Store on your new Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge.
  2. Sign in using the same mobile number that you used for pre-booking and activating the device.
  3. Click the Gear VR banner (which will be available from April 5, 2016) in the My Galaxy app to generate a unique coupon code.
  4. You can use the coupon code to redeem the Gear VR at www.samsungindiaestore.com only, on or before April 30, 2016.

If you've not enrolled in the My Galaxy app yet, you should do so before April 30, 2016, failing which you will not be eligible to receive the Gear VR for free. If you didn't pre-book a Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, Samsung is offering a 50 percent discount on the Gear VR if you purchase its latest flagship smartphones through its official online store (www.samsungindiaestore.com).

Note: The My Galaxy app is available only in India. In other regions you should be able to pick up your free Gear VR directly from the store where you got your Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, or get it by post after entering the voucher code that you get after buying either device.
