Many smartphone owners are hesitant to install the latest updates on their handsets. Unfortunately, it's unclear what the cause for this unexplainable firmware upgrade anxiety is, but Samsung hopes to cure it starting in India by offering customers 20% off their next Domino's order when they install an update on their device. So far, the promotion has been spotted by one Galaxy J7 user in the region who reported seeing a coupon in the My Galaxy application when they installed a Security Maintenance Release (SMR) on their phone.
It's unclear if Samsung is planning to bring this upgrade incentive to other regions. However, we presume that it will remain exclusive to developing markets where smartphones have smaller amounts of storage and users have a more restricted amount of data, so it will, therefore, encourage them to install even the most minor non-user facing updates, such as bug fixes, stability improvements, and monthly security patches. If owners are struggling to install the latest firmware, the coupon reveals that they can head over to their local Samsung Experience Store where a representative will be available to help them.
