Market analysts have high hopes for Samsung's second quarter, they expect the company to post positive earnings for the quarter. They're convinced that Samsung's investment in research and development will pay off, the company invests about 8 percent of its annual sales in R&D to better compete against rivals particularly in 3D NAND flash, OLED, and other technologies.
Samsung's semiconductor business is expected to post a record 2.5 trillion won ($2.17 billion) operating profit, the IT & Mobile division is expected to bring in 4.3 trillion won ($3.7 billion), as well as 200 billion won ($173 million) and 800 billion won ($695 billion) for consumer electronics respectively. If these estimates are correct it would be the first time in two years that the mobile division's operating profit tops 4 trillion won, and if it does happen the popularity of the Galaxy S7 will certainly be responsible for it.
