Samsung and Nestlé team up on Internet of things to develop new digital health platform

Samsung's Strategy and Innovation Center has announced a new collaboration with Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences to capitalize on the power of Internet of Things technology and nutrition science to provide deeper insights into healthy living. Their work will combine IoT, particularly scientifically validated bio-sensors and advanced multi-modal technology with comprehensive nutritional approach to provide people with “entirely new awareness” into health and wellness. One of the aims is to empower individuals to better manage their health and wellness by giving them contextual recommendations around lifestyle, fitness and nutrition.

“We are delighted to enter this collaboration with a global leader in the field of sensor technologies,” said Nestlé Chief Technology Officer Stefan Catsicas, adding that this collaboration will advance Nestlé's nutrition, health and wellness strategy. This collaboration is looking to combine Samsung's vast semiconductor experience and its ARTIK Internet of Things platform with Nestlé’s expertise in nutrition and biomedical science to enable people to take charge of their own health. Samsung Strategy and Innovation Center and Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences are going to work on the development of a new digital health platform which will provide more personal and meaningful insights to users in order to promote healthy living. More details about the platform and the first pilot tests are expected to begin early next year.
